| I was pretty skeptical of this product. I have found that shortcuts and products that are pre-made normally are not as good as the old tried and true products. In this case, I was wrong. I had a bit of an emergency when some tenants planed to move in sooner than expected. I had to re-grout the bath/shower stall quickly, and the last tenants had left it in bad condition. It appears that they had not cleaned the shower until just before they vacated. I had tried using a mildew remover. The damage was too much, and the old grout had to be removed. At the local hardware store, I asked if there were any shortcuts to installing new grout. The service person said he had an Elmer's grout that could be installed without the hassle of mixing a large quantity of grout. I was desperate and tried it. I found that it was best to apply it using my fingers and to quickly wipe it with a moist grout sponge after applying it to a small section. It adhered well and dried faster than I expected. With 4"x4" tiles, it was best to apply the grout to the borders of four to six tiles before wiping the excess grout away with a sponge, running over the grout lines again with my fingers to remove any excess, and then wiping with the sponge again. In places where the mildew persisted, the product was somehow able to remove mildew spots I could not remove with a bleach/mildew cleaner. It even had the same effect where the tile had been discolored by mildew. I wound up with a had a shower/bath stall with had sparkling white grout and tile again in half the time if I had spent mixing traditional gout and applying it using the traditional method. I am sold on the product and will explore the possibility of using it to redo a bathroom in my home soon. |
