Don't waste your money2010-03-111 / 5
My son recently bought this based on the infamous infomercial. He had high expectations that it would make painting his room a painless process. Ten minutes into using it, he found that the point & paint was dripping paint everywhere! It was nearly un-useable, and he went back to the $9 paintbrush he'd bought as a back-up. He said he couldn't believe how incredibly cheap it felt in his hand, until he realized it wasn't doing anything that it was supposed to do. So don't waste your money, just buy a decent paint brush!
Not bad, but not great either2010-03-103 / 5
All in all, this is not a bad little tool. I think it does make it easier to paint edges, but it takes a bit of getting used to. The pads apply paint pretty smoothly, but don't expect it to work exactly like the box and the commercials say it does. For example, the box says that you won't need to use tape to get clean, sharp edges. Absolutely false. I tried it initially without applying tape to the baseboard, and it smeared paint across the top of the baseboard, so I had to apply tape anyway. Once that was done, though, I was able to use the tool along the baseboard, and around the doors and windows (also taped) without any major problems. One other minor issue I ran into: if you load too much paint onto the pad, it will leave a glob of paint along your edge, but I found I could usually smooth the glob out by just running the tool across the same area a couple more times without applying any more paint. It's not perfect, but I'll probably use it for my next paint job. For me, it was faster and easier than using a brush for the edges, plus it leaves no visible strokes as a brush often does.
Best quality paint pad you can buy!2010-03-055 / 5
We use the Point-N-Paint pads and applicators in our business every day. The flocked foam pads are the highest quality (and highest density) pads we can find - far better quality than the overpriced Shur-line junk sold at every big-box chinese junk store in America. (Home Depot, Lowes, etc)

If you know how to paint with a pad, these pads will not disappoint. We stain with these pads, and they are hands down the best product we've ever bought - better than Padco, Shur-line, etc. The pole is a waste of time - don't buy it! These things are for doing detail work and pad painting - not necessarily the homeowner painting adventures advertised in the infomercial.

PS: If you have bought one or two or a hundred, and don't want them...I'll take them off your hands! REduce, REuse, and REcycle. Please don't throw them away - contact me and I'll buy them from you!
Fast easy painting2010-02-274 / 5
Our family's motto is: It's just paint. We paint A LOT. None of us use tape; we brush trim by hand. My father had forgotten he ordered this long ago & brought it to use today to paint the nursery. He just thought he'd see if it was cool. It was great. The room was done incredibly fast, even taking into consideration that we dno't spend time taping, and clean up was very easy.
To address a few complaints I've seen:
1) We didn't bother with the pole. Easier if you just get on a step stool so you can see what you're doing.
2) The roller pan is fantastic. We also use a Sure-Line for unmoulded ceilings (always have), and the pan was perfect for that as well. It's the key to the system.
3) We didn't have to drag plastic around the floor b/c there was no roller splatter.
4) Don't get the brush pad messy - as long as you keep it clean, it's your friend.
5) Re durability of the fuzzy brush pad... it appears to be the same material as the Sure-Line. I'm used to trashing those after 1 use, so that's about all I would expect from the Point n Paint pad. Having said that, it washed just fine & is ready to go for a second use, though I have no expectation for longevity. Replacement pads are about $2.50 each (in sets of 4). I'm fine with this concept.

I'm giving it 4 out of 5 due to whatever claims they make about pole & pad durability. But for us today, it was such a time saver.
Ugh, what a mess. Get an Accubrush instead!2010-02-121 / 5
I got this after I saw it on TV. Was terribly disappointed. Ended up getting an Accubrush later, which did much better. This point and point was a waste of money.
