After reading reviews of similar products it appears that some just don't have much mA output.
I am using this power socket to simultaneously charge a remote camera and separate monitor. It works fine. |

The item itself and the packaging it arrives in is clearly high quality. I was reading other reviews and quickly realized that quality in 12 volt converters did matter. These things are basically all made in China, but I believe there are some other inferior quality converters that appear to have been both designed and manufactured in China by some of those "second tier" junk manufacturers.
I was reading the review on another one of these adapters from another manufacturer (selling for a two cents + $2.97 shipping) and there were many comments about the unit overheating and simply being made very cheaply. Think about it, adapters create heat... so do you want some extremely shoddy adapter overheating in your wall and have it providing power to your expensive GPS, Cell Phone, or other chargeable device? Not me... that's why I spent the extra money and bought this one. |

| This does exactly what it is supposed to do, convert 115v AC to 12 volt DC, to power low-amp devices that are designed to be plugged into the power port (aka cigarette lighter) of an automobile. Note the reference to low-amp devices; it is great for cell phone chargers, most GPS units, etc. I use mine to power an inexpensive FM transmitter that I use in the car to listen to internet radio and mp3s from my Blackberry, through my car's stereo. I bought this device and an additional FM transmitter, so I can tranmsit music from my Blackberry or computer to my home theater system, clock radio, boom box, etc., while I'm at home. |

| I don't understand why these converters are so hard to find. I have tried another that did not function - at all. Nearly everyone has a device - computer, camera, GPS, Cell phone with a DC charger. With this converter the DC charge cable is the only one that you need to carry; you can plug the cable into the cigarette lighter as intended, or plug into this converter and into an AC socket - Everyone should have one. It works wonderfully well. I have purchased several and given to family and friends. |

| This works great! My Garmin has to be plugged into the car or computer to charge. Now I have the best of both worlds and can play with it while in the house. Worth every penny. |
